The True Meaning of Intelligence
January 13, 2008Intelligence, as most Filipino's would judge, is if a person could speak English fluently, where one can get "Inday Nosebleed" or if he/she is a dean's lister or has graduated with "flying colors".
The way we speak and the achievements we get are things that are most likely simple to achieve, this is only a limited part of the true meaning of intelligence, this is only limited to how memory works at its optimum. being a deans lister only needs your memorization of all the stuff in school, by memorizing formulas, researching the answers from books and the internet.. these things are clearly limited to the works of our memory. thus this alone can never be the basis of intelligence.
Though intelligence has many form, the true basis of intelligence is not by what you achieved, not by how you speak, or whatever, but for me, the true basis of intelligence is by how we think on situations in our daily lives, how we react on scenarios where everybody seems to find it impossible to solve! The true meaning of intelligence is by how our mind thinks and how it generates ideas and solutions in an instant, the true meaning of intelligence is by how we behave in this situations where we definetly think we know what to do, and then realize that we were wrong, yet still we accept the fact and move on.
Intelligence reflects on everything that we are, intelligence is not only limited to the works of the mind but also the abstract of our behavior in all kinds of situations.
